Netflix Keeps Freezing? Help is on the Way! If Netflix keeps freezing on you, then look no further — we can help! We offer valuable insight into why and how to fix it. I love Netflix, it has a wide variety of TV shows and movies that keep every member of my household occupied. I rarely have to listen to someone complain that there is nothing on. I don’t hear many complaints about Netflix. My biggest complaint is when a well- liked series ends and I have to wait for Netflix to acquire the next season. However, my family’s biggest complaint is that Netflix keeps freezing up on them. We’ll tell you why, and how to fix it. Netflix Keeps Freezing on My Blu- Ray Player or Gaming Console. PROBLEM: Memory/Processor Overload. This is something I have not seen mentioned too often. In our house, we have two Blu- Ray players capable of picking up Netflix, both are different generations and they have different browsers for viewing Netflix. Both of our systems will freeze up, when you surf the movie selection too much, or jump between multiple shows quickly. It is too much for their system to process and it doesn’t get a chance to “dump” the information you have already loaded. The older player, with a more simplistic interface, does not freeze up as often as the newer one. SOLUTION: Turn the unit off for 2. PROBLEM: Poor Internet Connection. If you don’t have a good, steady Internet feed, then the player will struggle to get any streaming information. How to Check for Updates on a Samsung Blu-Ray Player by Anne Baley.SOLUTION: If it is a wireless connection, then start by checking out 9 steps to Fix a Slow Wireless Connection, then reboot your player and see if it works better. If that doesn’t work then try a cabled connection, or contact your local provider to see if your service plan can even support streaming. PROBLEM: Bad App or Update Issue. If your Netflix hangs up and freezes on the loading screen, then it is highly likely that there is something wrong with your application. It is possible that the app got corrupted somehow, or that your player was trying to run an update and was interrupted. SOLUTION: Go to your player’s main menu screen and delete the app, then go to your options and reload it. Not all players are capable of this, read your instruction manual to find out how to delete and add applications. Sometimes, none of these solutions work and Netflix keeps freezing. Contact the manufacturer of your streaming equipment to see if they can help. Samsung Apps for Smart TVs and Blu-ray Disc Players. It seems that both Samsung and Sony have had past issues between their updates and Netflix, so you may even want to do a quick search of some message boards to see if it’s a common issue with your unit. Netflix Keeps Freezing on My Computer. PROBLEM: Memory/Processor Overload. Your computer may be good, but it can still only handle so much. When you watch Netflix, while surfing the Internet and chatting with your Facebook, you are using up your processing capability. Then you decide that maybe you should check your email, which leads to you opening up your word processor so you can send a quick article to your boss. Sometimes all this just ends up being too much for your computer to handle and something has to give. Normally it will be the process that requires the most memory, Netflix. SOLUTION: Shut down some applications, or if that doesn’t work then reboot your system and don’t do quite as many things when you go back into Netflix. PROBLEM: ISPVideo streaming accounts for a lot of Internet traffic, and puts a burden on Internet providers. Many Internet Service Providers have started to subtly throttle down Internet Connections, so they can “fairly” redistribute available bandwidth and take it away from the ones they consider bandwidth hogs. SOLUTION: Complain to your provider or swap providers. If enough people do this, then maybe the practice will stop. PROBLEM: Poor Internet Connection. If you don’t have a good, steady Internet feed, then your computer will struggle to do any streaming. SOLUTION: If it is a wireless connection, then start by checking your connection. If that doesn’t work then try a cabled connection, or contact your local provider to see if your service plan can support streaming. If you are still having problems and Netflix keeps freezing, then maybe it’s time to swap your Internet provider — we can help you find a deal with a new local provider.
